The Kanwar Yatra is a devotional procession where Kanwariyas fetch holy water (Gangajal) from the Ganga river, carrying it in decorated bamboo slings (kanwars). They walk—often barefoot or with special discipline—over long distances to offer this water to Lord Shiva at temples across India, particularly on the auspicious day of Sawan Shivratri (23 July 2025).
